Our Super. Rewired for Mums.

Superannuation wasn’t built for Mums. So, We Rewired it.

Super is one of the biggest financial assets most Australians will ever have. But if you take time off to have a child? That financial safety net disappears.

It’s not just unfair—it’s by design.

Take parental leave? No super.

Come back part-time? Lower contributions.

Work just as hard (if not harder) than male colleagues? Retire with less.

And the numbers don’t lie:

$58,000 – That’s how much less the average woman retires with compared to a man (see Super & the Gender Gap 2024

0% – The super most parents receive while on leave.

100% – What Hello Clever will now contribute.

For too long, the super system has shortchanged parents—especially Mums—for having children. We don’t think that’s clever.

Super. Rewired.

At Hello Clever, we’re not waiting for policy changes. We’re making change happen.

Starting today, Hello Clever will pay full super for employees whilst on parental leave AND for their first 12 months back at work—even if they’re part-time.

Because parenting is work. And like any job, it should be paid accordingly.

“Superannuation wasn’t built for modern working parents, so we’re rebuilding it,” says Caroline Tran, CEO of Hello Clever. “This isn’t a perk—it’s about priorities. No one should be financially penalised for starting a family.”

The Reality.

Most companies say they support working parents. Few actually pay them like they matter.

Meanwhile, women retire with less security, less choice, and less financial freedom—not because they didn’t work hard enough, but because the system wasn’t designed for them.

And yet, some businesses still claim “We can’t afford to pay super on parental leave.”

Here’s the truth:

  1. Companies that invest in working parents retain top talent. Businesses with strong parental policies see higher retention, better performance, and increased loyalty. (see: The Economics of Paid Parental Leave
  2. Financial security shouldn’t be a trade-off for having kids. A broken system doesn’t get fixed by waiting.
  3. This isn’t just a gender issue—it’s an economic one. More financial security = stronger spending power = a better economy for everyone.

Super Needs a Reboot. Who’s In?

At Hello Clever, we believe financial systems should work for everyone—not just those who never take a career break.

So, we rewired it.

Now the question is: Who’s next?
